Great advice MM – so many people just don’t get round to paying you before Christmas. So, as you say, it’s best not to rely on it.

I have five kids, so it’s really tough. But I’ve always had a policy of not buying presents for adults unless we can really afford it.

OH family seem to have a hard time getting used to this “non-present giving”. Last year, I took ages to handmake a gift for them and they didn’t even thank me for it.

Materialism really does bring out the worst in people.
