Over a Year of the Diva Cup – Guest Post at The Good Human

I’ve written before about my quest for good generic feminine products and my satisfaction with the Diva Cup.

Earlier this week, I did another Diva Cup Review at The Good Human blog. David, the site’s owner, couldn’t try it out for himself, so he was excited when I volunteered to share my experiences. If you’re interested in possibly using the Diva Cup yourself, check out the articles.

I’ve been using it for over a year now and am continually impressed with its convenience, its frugality, and its environmental friendliness (i.e. how many tampons/pads I don’t have to use).

I’ve been contemplating the diva cup, but according to the website (http://www.divacup.com/en/home/faqs/) you’re supposed to replace it every year. I think $30 a year is much more than I currently spend on that sort of lady product per year, so I’m still on the fence. I like the idea of less waste, but I also like having more cash in my pocket (even if it’s only $30).

Interesting. That’s changed since I started using it–when it said 10 years. In many cases, I’ve heard of people using them for longer. Of course you have to keep it clean, not over-boil, etc. I think I would still buy it even if I had to replace every year, they’re just that convenient.

Hurrah for menstrual cups. I had one, had a lot of trouble with it, and let it sit unused for a number of years — but I’ve been using my Keeper again over the past six months or so, and I have to say it is doubleplusgood.

I’ll need to get a new one in a year or two — but Keepers and MoonCups are good for ten years, not just one.
