A friend sent me this video, which left me in stitches. It’s a “Cribs” parody, done by one of my favorite comedians, Seth Green. You may have heard Seth’s voice if you’re a fan of Family Guy or Robot Chicken. I’m fond of his characters, Oz, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Napster in The Italian Job (remake).
Un-Broke: The Seth Green Cribs Edition
The video is more than just a parody with a little good financial advice, it’s an ad for the ABC special Un-Broke: What you need to know about money. The 1-hour ABC special will air Friday, May 29 at 9/8c. It’s supposed to cover the basics of personal finance.
Un-Broke will include appearances by Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, the Jonas Brothers, Seth Green (though I think this was his whole segment), Cedric the Entertainer, Christian Slater, Rosario Dawson, and the E*Trade Babies.
I have to say, the ad makes me want to watch the special to see what else they do and what they consider the basics. Green throws out some good starting math in this piece, such as keeping the cost of your house under 1/3 of your monthly income (lower if you’ve got a lot of other debt).

I love Seth Green. We’re all about Robot Chicken at my house. And this is a great video.

Hahaha – ‘every night this pool is straight filled with hose – hey where my hose at?” That’s awesome. Good stuff!

Star Trek was great as well, by the way.

@Miranda, I have not seen enough Robot Chicken. It is one of my failings.
@meinmillions, glad you caught that! Better to record early than late, though.
@Jeff, I didn’t see where that one was going…but yeah. Hilarious. 🙂
@Writer Dad, indeed on both counts!
Thanks for sharing the video – that was so.. so.. funny! Hopefully, when people watch it on ABC, they will get take the financial tidbits seriously… the peace that comes with having your finances in order, for example.
