Last night I had the pleasure of meeting up with a number of other PF bloggers at the Black Squirrel bar in DC, up in the Dupont/Adams Morgan area. It was quite a hike from the metro (.9 miles each way), but that made me feel better about skipping working out earlier this week! Plus I had good company both ways.
The food was pretty good. The onion rings were fantastic. The sandwiches were apparently not half-price, though the burgers were. I still came in within my budget, but not as delightfully within my budget as I sometimes do. I only note this because if you go to the Black Squirrel, be sure to ask if something’s half-price before ordering–as a sign in their ladies’ room said that both sandwiches & burgers were half off on Thursdays.
Two new faces at the meetup were:
Adam from Money Relationship, though I’d met him online almost a year ago, and SB Chick from Small Budget, Big Style. If SB Chick’s style last night was achieved on a small budget, then I think I need to start taking lessons from her!
Returning bloggers were:
- DH from Debt Hater, our hostess for the night.
- Amelia from Amelia’s Healthy Life.
- J from Budgets are Sexy.
- Craig from Budget Pulse.
A good time was had by all (I hope!). With all our blogging connections being so virtual and tenuous, it’s nice to get out with people and get to know them better. I’ve found it encouraging and a good way to meet people. Plus, PF bloggers are geeks of a sort and it’s great to be around other geeks where you can talk about things that your other friends just don’t find interesting.
The only thing that could have made it better is if long-time Happy Hour organizer/hostess mapgirl, and long-time attender Clever Dude had been there. Both had valid excuses, but I’m looking forward to hanging out with them next month!
