Last week, I mentioned that I was doing some interviewing. The freelance life has been good to me in the last year, but I know that in the long-term I want to be in libraries. I’d also like the dependability of a salary, which makes me feel more about to pay off debt quickly and enjoy my free time more. I’ll write more about that later.

I’m pleased to announce that I got one of the positions I was applying for. I don’t want to say much about it, but it is a library position and one that I’m very excited about. It’s full-time, with a pretty good salary and benefits. I get a good vibe from the people I met during the interview.

I’ll be starting the job in early December. My posting may be sporatic, but I’m hoping to get some things written ahead of time. I plan to keep up with this blog for the foreseeable future, no worries there.

As I said, the freelance life has been good to me. I’ve developed a number of useful skills, more self-confidence, and a real sense of direction. When I graduated form college, I thought that I might go into the library field. But I wasn’t really sure about it until a few months back.

Also, in the last year I’ve grown my blog and consulting in such a way that I should have alternative income coming from both of them as long as I keep them up. And I’ve learned the value of alternative income streams. It now makes perfect sense to me that, say, a person should work a regular job and do a little consulting on the side.

Besides being excited about the position itself, the people I’ll be working with, and my future, I’m also excited that this salary will help us speed up our car payoff, hopefully finish it in a few months. We’ll also be putting more money in our retirement accounts.

As you can imagine, I have something big to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. πŸ™‚

Super duper news, Principessa. Let us hear more. And happy thanksgiving…we’re in England, going to make a pseudo-thxgiving for the family here on Friday. XXX

That’s great news. My sister recently got her Master’s Degree in Library Science. I am glad that you will continue blogging. Your blog is so interesting. Keep us posted about the new job.

Also… please feel free to stop by my site anytime. I am blogging about my new interest in investing in the stock market and now is a perfect time to buy into a few financially sound businesses (yes they do exist) that are currently on “sale” because of our current economic crisis. A good time to start building a small portfolio of dividend paying stocks with your extra income. Hope to see you soon at: http://www.ourstockmarketjourney.blogspot.com/

Be well.

Congratulations, that’s great!

In these economic times, a position with benefits and a steady wage is a great asset. And you seem to be really excited, which is awesome.

Good job!

Excellent work! This is great news.

With an academic in the family, librarianship is a top-notch occupation. You can usually get a job wherever he can land a faculty position.

Congrats! You’re so lucky; I’ve always wanted to work at a library. Our local branch is tiny and never hiring. Have fun!

Congrats on the new job!

I will also be starting a new library job myself in January, and I’m hoping that library work will be the career I’ve been looking for. I never considered it until I started working in a bookstore last year while trying to figure out what to do about my master’s program (which I have unofficially quit).

I never had considered it before and I don’t know why-library science seems to be a great fit for my interest and skills.

Congrats again!
