My partner and I like to go and look at the stars, there is an astronomy group at the local university that is open some evenings to the general public were you can use their powerful telescopes and get some education at the same time!
More often though we just head to the local countryside or beach if there are comet or satellite alerts (there are many websites that can tell you what is visible from your location). We just take a blanket and a flask of tea and lie back and enjoy the view and chat.
Note you will probably need to wrap up well and if you are a wuss like me, tuck a hot water bottle inside your jacket! Of course the chilly-ness does encourage extra cuddling!

Coffee, yes. I think the great thing about NY is that you can have frugal but fun dates b/c you can walk everywhere and pop into a bunch of shops and then sit down in a cafe with ease.

Sitting on the couch, watching a movie, drinking a glass of wine. My man likes old Jimmy Stewart westerns, I keep a few on the Tivo so no rental fees and I have a cellar full of wine. That’s not his favorite date but it’s always mine!

I like going out for coffee, especially considering a lot of coffee shops are comfy and let you indulge in comfort food for not that much.

I love to go to wherever there is a huge body of water where I can watch and listen to the waves and deeply breathe in the fresh crisp air. I love to ear the sound of the ocean, the sea gulls, and whatever else nature wants to tickle my fancy with. And, it is at these times, when I medidate on GOD; my “date” at the time, that I feel that if I had a million dollars to spend, I could enjoy no greater peace, no greater joy; than this. Which is usually … free.

i’m all about $1 theatres and walks down to a local ice-cream joint – but that is limited to small towny places…

if you’re in college, you can go to the university theatre and then take your date to D-Hall afterwards?! haha….or what about Bowling?!

Okay, this is seasonally inappropriate, but cheap tickets to a minor league ball game and a flask full of something to warm the belly can be really fun.
