Socks are great, but try a hat or a sweater too to keep your core temperature up.

I agree with the above commenter about the wool socks. Some friends introduced me to Smartwool socks and I *love* them! I use them for hiking and everyday use.

I, too, wear socks to bed in the winter. I don't like wearing pants to bed b/c they always seem to twist around me or the pant legs ride up my leg. Socks are *definitely* the way to go :)

We did a 1st aid clinic at a staff training thing I was at for camp this weekend (she exposited awkwardly) and socks were definitely brought up. The points were:

1) For hiking, camping, etc, WOOL socks are the best. Wool stays warm even when wet! Cotton, on the other hand, just gets horrible and clammy.

2) For temperature control (as when dealing with shock, heat stroke, etc) the joints of the body are the places where you'll be able to make the quickest difference -- arm pits, feet/ankles, wrists, groin, knee pits (knee pits?). Warming or cooling those areas will quickly warm or cool the rest of the body.

Now you know!

Agreed, socks make all the difference! The best kind of socks when you're feeling the chill? I say simple white cotton or those super fuzzy ones...especially if they just came out of the dryer!

Socks make a lot of difference. I love my socks since I move to Canada... I'm ready to pay a good price for them!

I too have found that the state of the feet are critical to being comfortable. Never needed to cover my head but I've heard of that many times.

Sorry about your flu. Take care of yourself!
