Birthday Blog on Blogging Roundup

Today’s my 23rd birthday. Somehow it feels very important, like I’m making a big transition. Looking back over the last year, I can see how much I’ve adjusted to—being married, living in a big city instead of suburbia or the country, working year-round, working a mixed set of jobs, being on my own (our own) financially. 22 was a big year.

I wish I could say that my plans for today are relaxing, but I’m actually booked solid from 6am until after 9pm. The good news is that while the first 8 hours is work, the next few hours are hanging out with my parents and then the rest is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer “best of” marathon. The last was a coincidence, but a very happy one. So I’m anticipating a pretty good birthday.

For you bloggers out there, here are three articles I wrote in the last week for my blog on blogging:

• 13 Wordpress Admin Themes + 3: Besides the themes which control the blog’s look and feel, Wordpress allows for “admin themes” which control the user-side experience. I’m not a big fan of the default look; I use several admin themes across my blogs (for variety). There aren’t many good ones out there, but I managed to come up with a list of 13, including Wordpress 2.5+ and pre-Wordpress 2.5 ones. Some of the 2.5+ also have earlier versions which you can download. Plus 3 other plugins which make your user-side experience easier.
• If CommentLuv Doesn’t Recognize Your Feed: CommentLuv is a popular way of rewarding commenters by linking to their last post. Unfortunately, it never recognized my site’s feed and included my latest post. This post is about how I fixed it!
• How to Change the Name of Your Wordpress Theme: Whether you’ve got a bunch of themes based on the same theme or just want to change the name of the theme you’ve been modifying, here’s how. This post is in response to a search query which was looking for information I wasn’t yet providing. So I decided to write it up. I add some quick info about modifying the accompanying screenshot as well.
