How I Bought an iPod for $50.25 and Paid Nothing Out of Pocket, Courtesy of Revolution Money Exchange

I never thought I’d own an iPod. They’re much to expensive to even consider on my budget. But I’ve rather wanted one anyway. I mentioned this a while ago on the blog. Now here’s a happy story about how I’m getting one.

Kacie from Sense to Save contacted me earlier this week with an amazing offer. She had been given a used 30 GB iPod which she wasn’t using and offered to pass on to me (after noticing that I would like one). Since she didn’t have to recoup costs, she agreed to sell it for the low price of $35, plus shipping.

Refer A Friend using Revolution Money ExchangeBut see, here’s where the really exciting part comes in. Because Revolution Money Exchange has started doing a sign-up bonus program, we conspired to use it to our advantage in this transaction. It was easier than mailing a check and cheaper than PayPal….and financially awesome.

Kacie gave me a referral link from her account to sign up. Then I got $25 for signing up and she got $10. So she got an extra $10 for the sale and I put $25 towards the iPod. That left me with $15.25 out of pocket. But then two people used my signup link to get their $25 and set up accounts for free transfers…and that was $20 in referral thank-yous for me, which covered the $15.25.

Therefore Mrs. Micah has 1 iPod and no money out of pocket. I was going to find a way to work this into the budget, but now I don’t have to. Sweet.

It hasn’t yet arrived, but I’m very excited and setting up my music on iTunes. I’ve also reserved iPod: The Missing Manual from the library. It arrived!!! Woooooooooot!

That was pretty spectacular timing. The bonus program is supposed to end on April 15th, too, so there was a short and perfect window. Also, remember that since it ends on the 15th you might want to take a minute to sign up. It’s not something you have to use to get the money…you can use it as much or little as you like.

Thanks, Kacie, you rock!!!!

I hope you enjoy your new iPod!

I hadn’t heard of this, but it sounds great – so I clicked and signed up, and you should get another $10. 🙂

Mrs M – that is absolutely brilliant. I too haven’t got an ipod because they’re so expensive, but I’ll be checking out your coupon to see if folks from the UK can sign up too. Thanks.

I posted on my blog recently about how to get a “free” ipod as well. Basically you just need to trade in old cds and dvds that you’re not using and you’ll get an Ipod (or xbox or playstation/etc) in return. Click on the link in my name for details.
