For users of self-hosted WordPress, this is a big weekend. WP 2.5 just came out and we have to figure out whether or not we want it on our blogs. I’m gradually warming up to the idea, but I’m definitely going to play with it on my test blog first. I’m finding my way around, but there’s always the fear of security holes, among other things. And there’s some places where it’s much less flexible, which is an ironic step backwards.
If I do install it, I’m going to do an uber-backup first.
Speaking of having our own sites, Emily of Remodeling This Life just moved to her own .com! Another blogger I know did as well, but I’m not positive she’s ready to show it off yet, so I’ll mention that later.
Emily posted a great reflection on letting children be. We can’t control children’s interests, which is probably a good thing.
Some fun posts from this week:
Mighty Bargain Hunter discovered that residents of a new neighborhood near his are paying $360/month for the privilege of drinking yellowish water. Wow. Hopefully the price will go down and the quality of the water up…but that’s scary.
Larry Swedroe, posting at All Financial Matters, reminded us that bear markets are a necessary evil. Not a fun thought, but it makes sense. And that’s one reason a balanced portfolio has both stocks and bonds and perhaps even cash in it, depending on your age.
Becky of Family and Finances added to her wedding series a post on saving money on attendant gifts. This isn’t by being cheap but by being thoughtful. I was in a wedding last summer where the bride gave us all lovely heart necklaces to wear in the wedding. I liked mine so much that I wore it at my own wedding 2 weeks later.
At My Money Blog, Jonathan has taken a look at the Prosper delinquent and defaulting stats. Not terribly pretty.
Lynnae at Being Frugal has been rocking the blog with her homemade cleaners posts. This week she added some more ideas. Don’t forget to check out the comments section, since her readers often have good ideas as well.
Single Guy is giving away a $50 gas card. One of those babies could last us for about a month…so I though about not including the link…less competition. Read the rules and get your comment in by April 4th!
I forgot to do the Carnivals again. *sigh* So no carnival roundups.
Happy Sunday everyone!

I’m scared to death to upgrade. Like you, I know there will be bug fixes galore for a while.
I may wait a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the link! And for the bloggy advice! 🙂
Thanks for the inform , I have yet to try out yet ,
Thanks for the link! I think it’s funny that you thought about not including the link to Single Guy’s post. That sounds like something I’d do 🙂
