I've been there, Mrs. Micah, and I know it's not easy. I know you'll pull through. In the meantime, I suggest some spiked hot chocolate.

It's been my experience that depression can get you regardless of how your day is going... one of the reasons it can be so insidious. Hope tomorrow is better!

Also, dried beans are always cheaper... and much tastier. :)

" I want to be able to fix myself…and while I know things that can make it better"

Mrs M, don't be too hard on yourself either. You would admonish yourself for twisting your ankle or having a rash.

Mental Health is a illness and in some, a function of brain chemistry issues, that you cannot just will away.

take care of yourself! *Hug*

I've never heard of these co-ops you speak of. Maybe they don't have any in my area.

Mrs. Micah, can I ask which co-op you guys checked out? I also live just barely outside DC (in MD), so it may not be far from me, and it sounds like something I'd like to at least check out. If you're not comfortable posting something like that in your comments, an e-mail would be fine too. Thanks, and I hope today is better for you. It's a bit rainy out, but the warmth is so nice! Plus I just love the smell of a warm rainy morning.

Hi Mrs M - Hope you're feeling better soon. Do you not know what's triggered it? Do you think you maybe feel worse at particular times of the month?

My mom has struggled with depression and anxiety her whole adult life - which meant my whole childhood. She's been doing *really* well for the past 2 or 3 years now with some medication she's on. I hope you, too, can find something that works well for you (be it medication or something natural). I'll say a prayer for you!

Good question, Simple Tam. The Dewey is a system of organizing non-fiction books in the library. The other major one used in the States is the Library of Congress system.

The Dewey works based on some general classifications 000s are reference, 100s are philosophy and psychology, 200s are religion, 400s are language, 800s are literature, etc. Then within each group, there's subgroups 001s are UFOs and the like. 004-006 is computer stuff. 242 is a particular subtopic of Christianity.

Some numbers aren't yet accounted for, so that we'll have room for new topics (like computers).

Without the Dewey, it'd be much harder to organize libraries. We'd have to have some general "section" idea anyway...and section specifics means that you'll find the same books together. So 332.024s are all on personal finance. My library has maybe 100 different PF books. 332.6, on the other hand, is investing. Very close, so if you're interested in PF you may be interested in investing and can get to that easily.

It's useful in just finding the book in a haystack of a zillion books and in finding sections relevant to your needs (like books all the books on depression).

Maybe I'll post about it.

Oh also.. good post. I used to go to a local warehouse market for last minute needs. I don't usually grocery shop. But now I have become more organized and make tri-weekly trips (I live alone) to a bargain grocery store a bit further away, but definitely worth the drive.

Mrs.M, been reading your blog for a while now. This might be a silly question, what exactly is the Dewey decimal system ? Yes, I know, was just about to google it. But thought it might be interesting to have your take on it.
