Oh Honey! Get thee to an outdoor store and purchase Yax Trax–it will be the best $20 you ever spent. My sister gave me a pair for Christmas two years ago. They are essentially chains for your feet and fit nicely onto the bottoms and lower sides of your shoes. I come from a long line of uncoordinated people and I am not steady on my feet in icy conditions–but these little doohickeys have been great.

We had a good bit of snow this morning as well, but it warmed up by noon… A wet mess that eventually melted away. I’m sure it will come back tonight!

This is my first winter in DC. I’m from a Midwestern lake effect area so this is nothing.

I was in the South for work for the snow we had a week or so after Thanksgiving. So this is my first (serious) snow here.

However I’m scared of the Virginia drivers! Fortunately its only a 2 mile drive between home and work.

In any frozen precipitation event its important to pick up your feet and march. Especially ice.
