Getting Insurance: Mrs. Micah’s 1 week goal

Ok, so I’ve said that I’m going to get insurance. Thanksgiving and other things kind of threw me off course (combined with my fear of spending…) but I’ve decided to write down some tangible steps on here so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Step 1, for Tuesday: Determine criteria. Use comparison sites to find plans which meet criteria.

Step 2, for Wednesday: Evaluate plans in greater detail. Pick the best 3 or 4.

Step 3, for Thursday: Discuss remaining plans with Mr. Micah.

Step 4, for Friday: Purchase plan we decide on.

*looks nervous* Ok, status quo is not cool here, so I should change it. Maybe Step 1 should also include “pep talk to self about why this is such a good idea”…………

I’ll let you know how it’s going tonight! 🙂

Please get health insurance as soon as possible. As someone from a country with socialised medical care, it makes me really uncomfortable to think that anyone could be bankrupted by medical bills.

I bet once you start taking action, you’ll find that it’s not as daunting as you fear.

Gosh how I envy your socialized medicine, plonkee. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s so much less scary. Apologies to Mr. Micah who’s into small government. 😉

I actually found a really exciting policy! Low enough payments and a sane deductible, as well as cheap annual exams and ob-gyn visits. So I’m going to look over it tonight with Mr. Micah and we may speed up the whole process.

Can’t you get health insurance through the university? Mine offers a pretty good deal for medical/dental/vision. Our University has a free women’s clinic too that I’ve used. I don’t know if you guys have one. I don’t have our university insurance because we get some kind of insurance through Nathan’s school, but that would’ve been my first plan if we didn’t.

Bon chance my dear!

Hi Mrs. Micah!
What a good idea to make yourself sign up on a schedule, and within a few days. I usually delay these things so they take weeks. hope it works out wel!
