So, I’ve been experimenting with a new theme on here. If you leave criticism (and I’m definitely open to constructive suggestions!!!) please be nice because I spent over 2 hours modifying it to fit my blog. π
With the new BlogHer ads, I needed to have them near the top to meet the requirements, but I didn’t want to push more useful sidebar content down.
You may be seeing more ads on here…I’m experimenting and we’ll see what happens! π

Very kewl!! Took me a second because it’s backwards…LOL! But I like it!!
Yeah, like carrie said, it’s backwards from what I’m used to in 3-column layouts. The big white space in the upper left corner is a bit much, but otherwise it’s nice – I like the white background layout. It’s very easy to read and at the end of the day that’s the main thing, isn’t it?
It does take a moment to get oriented but then it’s fine. If above the fold space is a concern, can you shrink the empty space up top?
My only suggestion is that it feels unnatural for the “meat” of the site to start so far off to the right, rather than either more central or to the left. It looks really good, though. If the left-hand column were to the right of the main text instead, I’d say it looks great.
Its pretty cool. I’d shrink the header a little.
As I’m demonstrating, one of the problems with feedback is that people always want you to change something.
I like this theme. It handles the ad nicely.
I made the header about 30px shorter (the best I think I can do) and switched the sidebars. I officially feel like a goddess of teh interwebs. π (even though that was simple stuff and I’m still learning CSS.) (whoops, did you hear the Imposter Syndrome in that last qualifier?)
It gets all screwy with a sidebar open. I’ll email you screenshots.

Thanks, Christine. To answer that here, it’s because I set the columns using percentages not pixels. Because you use a browser with an open sidebar already, there’s less pixel space left for the blog. So it adjusts by percentage and the static images in the sidebar don’t fit.
Unfortunately, I don’t really know a good way to get around this. I could make it static, but you’d probably have to scroll sideways if you wanted to see the whole page… :/
YEAH!!!!!! It’s very beautiful and not confusing now!
