My prayers go out for you to get your job of testing newborns’ ears. I still remember the people that helped when my firstborn was 6-weeks early. I was scared and he was so tiny. All the different health care people that did the testing and such were such a comfort. Good Luck Mrs. Micah

Thanks, Raymond. I remember your post about Hostmonster. It was on my possible list, but a blog search convinced me that it wasn’t one of the better options. So far the Dreamhost people have been helpful with my setup and everything.

From my experience, ALL of the host providers have their share of problems. The worst in my opinion is Host Monster. Their technical support is not only rude, they make excuses and never actually fix the problem.

Even so-called reliable services like MediaTemple go down as well. Dreamhost servers will also go down on occasion, but at least they respond and apologize. However, with Dreamhost, I do notice a good faith attempt by them to try to fix them problem. That’s why despite a few downtimes, I am still overall pleased with DreamHost.

xentek, I’ve heard that from a number of users, but I’ve heard the same thing about every affordable host out there. And I’ve heard good things from Dreamhost users. (And other programs.) I guess you must have had a bad experience with them.

The advantage of the $23 first-year fee is that if, after a couple months, things don’t work out, I can switch without feeling bad or bothering about getting a refund. If you read my article, you’ll notice that I mention this, and my plans to switch if things go sour.

If I didn’t switch to Dreamhost, I probably couldn’t have afforded hosting for another few months anyway and would still be at Wordpress.com (which as had a few glitches with my site).

Dreamhost is not very frugal at all. Its cheap. But so is the service, which is constantly down, has a crappy NON-STANDARD interface to manage your site(s), and besides the generous affiliate program they have – there is nothing good I can say about this company. If you care about your site, then you will find a more reliable host.
