Achievement #1: The placement agency helped me set up an interview for Friday. Job would pay in the mid 30s, they say. That would be excellent. Now I’ll be able to look for a job that I really really want, get experience, and eat. It looks interesting enough, but I would like to work for a non-profit or some organization which makes the world a bit better. I really doubt this one does. Not its field.
Achievement #2: Saved $1 by buying CVS generic face soap instead of Dove. Most of the same ingredients, we’ll see if it does the job as well. Also saved money by buying Tampax Extra Super Tampons at $3.49 for 20 tampons instead of Kotex Extra Super at $3.49 for 18. That comes out to $.17 per tampon instead of $.19. Not much difference, I know, but it’ll add up.
Non-financial achievement: Went to Social Security bureau to get my name changed on my SS card and file. Once I get the card, it’s on to get my license changed. Then I’ll have to start doing it for mundane things. My official new name is “First Name, Maiden Last, Husband’s Last” only w/o commas. Or hyphens. My maiden name is d*** hard to spell and I’m only going to use it for professional stuff. I’m tired of explaining to people, “No, that’s an i not an e, a k not an h, and there’s no s.”
Other non-financial achievement: Washed a number of shirts by hand while waiting for dinner to finish. Hung them on drying rack. Saved $3 on laundry, plus saved water and energy. Probably won’t be able to do this once employed, but might as well now, eh?
Goal for today: Organize important documents in hanging folder system. Find things like marriage license, lease, etc. Also put all saved receipts in a special envelope.

Wow! I feel like a bum.
About organizing receipts– I have a billion receipts and I just started uploading them onto my computer.
More importantly I started buying a lot more stuff online. It saves me a lot of money and time and there are a lot of specials that only happen online.
The best part is that I don’t have to organize any receipts. I have been using an online receipt organizer that does it automatically and is free. There are a couple available. Mine is called shoeboxed.com but if you google organizing receipts you will see a bunch of other ones.
I am really liking your blog. I saw it on Technorati. Keep it up.
Thanks for the tip! I haven’t organized my receipts yet, but all the ones from the last month are in an envelope. One goal today is to separate all the grocery shopping ones so that we can create a grocery budget. When I’m very brave I’ll get to some of the others. (It scares me how much money we spent on our honeymoon, having to eat out and such).
