Introducing Mrs. Micah

I’ve always had a hard time figuring out aliases to write under, so I picked the name “Mrs. Micah” when I started it out because I was recently married and my husband’s name is “Micah.” Offline, I never go by “Mrs. Micah X,” instead using my first name, maiden and last name.

The name also seemed appropriate because the point of the blog is that I just got married. In fact, like so many other women, I have been married for exactly one month today (we picked the date 7/7/07 because it was also our 5 year anniversary, but it was very popular).

So far I like marriage and I love my husband. But I’ve found it’s very different situation from being single and a student. You can’t move back in with your parents, you need to find a job, you need to budget your money for food and rent and the like. And you take on your partner’s financial history, just as they take on yours.

So here’s to my exploration of financial married life. At some point I’ll tell you more about me, but I’m 21, a bit of a geek, I have a degree in English/Literature (not too marketable), and my biggest preparation for this is the personal finance class I took last semester.
